I just posted a similar article for my "Mommies" (and Daddies too) about how it's WHO WE ARE that has such a big effect on our children, and THAT, is our most powerful teaching tool (rather than our words).

It's nice to see others experiencing this too AND taking the time to write about it!

I totally agree to set an example for my kids. I have a 6-year old boy and a soon-to-be 2-year old girl. It is so much easier to assume what we say has more or as much of an impact than what we do with our children.

Thanks Mike, Roger and Andrew. I am glad you all agree that our actions as parents speak loudly. Thanks for the link too, Andrew.

Jeff - No BS at all. And it isn't just leading by example for our own kids. The WSJ ran a great section on "Solving the Caregiving Puzzle" this last weekend. There are a growing number of retired folks that are giving back to society (specifically kids) in all sorts of facinating ways.

Absolutely correct. I wouldn't discount the power of a good lecture, but leading by example is always a large influence (if not the largest).
