  1. Sounds like a great afternoon. I used to take my oldest daughter out to breakfast on Sundays, to let my wife sleep. This ritual sort of died out after our youngest was born (15 month ago). This was a great time for us to connect one on one and I recently started doing it again. I figure if I want to know what’s going on in my daughter’s life when she’s sixteen, I better start by knowing what’s going on in her life now, when she is six.

  3. You hit the nail on the proverbial head, Ian. Glad you’re making time for her. These relationships definitely need to be built up over years if we want to stand a chance when they’re teenagers. My oldest is 16 (17 next week) and although I’ve been building that relationship for years, there’s still the guy/girl, old fart/hip youngster divide to cross. 😉
