I received a curious jar of things from my friend, Jason Falls, on behalf of Wonderopolis.org. It’s a site about literacy and how we can help kids learn more. You’ve gotta see what came out of the bucket (this video runs about 4 minutes long):

It’s a great project and got me thinking of new ways to get my kids into reading even more than we’re doing now. What do you think?

Thank you for sharing this site. My two 8-year old daughters and I spent about 30 minutes discussing buzzing bees after checking it out. It was a great time together.

I attended the NCFL annual conference last year and it was amazing to learn about how many different approaches there are to literacy. Since I have young kids, I think of literacy as something for emerging readers, but there were many agencies promoting ESL programs, adult literacy and lifelong learning for families. An admirable set of goals.
Kind of bummed out that I didn’t get a jar of cool stuff, though!
