Here’s another wonderfully touching song from Trace Adkins. Much like “All I Ask For Anymore“, and “Then They Do“, this one, “You’re Gonna Miss This“, is another tribute to families. This one is a reminder for us all to try to stop and appreciate these magical times–even when things seem like utter chaos and mayhem. We must do our best to appreciate the glory while we can. All too soon we will look back and truly miss these crazy times. We might not believe it at the time, but we will give anything to come back to this very moment that you might be taking for granted. Don’t let another precious moment slip through your fingers. Grasp as many of them as you can and embrace them.

What I love about the song is that it applies for all of us, all ages. We’ve all wasted too much of our youth looking ahead and longing to grow up only to look back with longing to be young again. It’s a sad and silly thing we all do. We should all try to appreciate the present and enjoy it as much as possible. Stop looking ahead or back.

This song also goes well with Phil Vassar’s “Just Another Day in Paradise” which was another tribute for all the things we will miss someday.
