  1. I’m commenting even though I’m not entering to win the contest; I just had to defend one of my favorite stores–Kmart! I think Kmart gets a totally bad rap and I, for one, try to do my part to dispell the notion that everything they sell is crappy or low-quality. I know that you, Chris, aren’t saying this at all–quite the contrary–but I will say that, at least for women’s clothes I think they have great stuff. I am not frumpy or a wearer of mom jeans, holiday-themed sweatshirts, or old-lady looking stuff in general (no offense to anyone reading this if you are, btw–just trying to prove a point). I am very stylish–if I do say so myself–and my two favorite shirts EVER are from K-mart. I think cost $11 each, and that was easily 5 years ago. Good quality, great fitted shape–I have since tried to find this same shirt, or variations of it, at stores like Nordstrom, Express, you name it–I have not found any as nice or well-fitting as these anywhere. Ditto some jeans I got at Kmart even more than 5 years ago–the fit and quality easily rivals my $150 Seven jeans. The list of things I’ve gotten at Kmart goes on–100% cotton sheets, towels, white bowls nicer than my Pottery Barn ones, shoes, lingerie (my favorite underwear is from Kmart–the thongs fit as well as, if not better than, the “must-have” Hanky Panky $30 thongs)…I’ll spare you the rest of the list but suffice it to say that I’ve got plenty of Kmart stuff in my house.

My one gripe with Kmart is that the sizes only go down to size 4, and their sizes tend to run big. Kmart–if you’re reading this–you need to add size 2!

My thing is this: nobody takes issue with shopping at Target, but the bottom line is that the only difference between Kmart and Target is that you can make Target sound swanky by calling it “Tar-jay,” therefore eliminating the stigma at shopping at what is, essentially, Kmart’s twin in many respects. Except that Kmart is cheaper and has way better sales.

Ok–off my soapbox now…suffice it to say I love me some Kmart!
