I’m going to admit that I’m on the fence. With this ad for Huggies Diapers (click through if you can’t see it in your reader), the ad itself is a bit awkward (adult women making “oh he’s HOT” faces at toddlers – yes, it’s tongue in cheek), but I dunno. Diapers that look like jeans? If we’re going there, I want ones that look like studded leather pants. Or chinos. Or…

You?

Thanks for posting that ad, it’s hilarious! Doubt I would use them, but I do like the ad! I wouldn’t read too much into the women’s expressions, honestly. The whole thing is a huge satire.

  5. Are those for real? The tagline “The coolest you’ll look pooping your pants” makes me think it’s fake. But you never know…

  7. I feel like I should be offended by that commercial but I’m just not. It’s a gimmick to get people to buy more diapers. I think it’s a innovative way to market diapers. And yes, the satire of the commercial made me giggle.

  9. Hilarious! That commercial got my attention! I have seen a similar commercial with different copy for the prime time audience 🙂
The next commercial? Pink Jean Huggies for that Paris Hilton youthful look.

  11. My daughter pointed these out to me at Walmart today and I could not stop laughing! What a dumb product! I hope parents WILL NOT buy these and will continue to diaper their kids AND put pants/shorts on them. Spot is VERY weird.

  13. That’s pretty darn funny. Is that VO the voice of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog?

I dunno. That’s pretty ridiculous, and probably some sort of conspicuous consumption product. I’ll stick to cloth, thanks. Reusable for the win.

  15. Seems like this should be more of a “Depends” kind of thing to me.

    Just sayin 🙂

I’m not sure about the ad, per se, but among disposable diapers, the jeans do seem far preferable, to me, to the other major options. Given a choice between faux-denim and cartoon advertising, denim seems an obvious choice. Branding kids every time one changes their diapers is a little disturbing to me, itself.

Of course, cloth diapers with hand-knit wool covers still win with me; surrounding a child with natural fibres seems far more healthful than paper stuffed with polyacrylate crystals. Also, one gets more choice of solid colours when knitting one’s own covers, and one can choose briefs, shorts, or long pants. 🙂

Marketing went too far on this one. Turning this little guy into some sexy dood. I think this could put in a catagory of child porn.
I turn it off immediately. I think it is downright ugly.

  21. In my opinion, this is going too far. Not only is it a stupid product, but the ad is overtly sexual. My kids are out of diapers (Thank God), but I would never by this product based upon this ad.
