  1. I think the hardest part about sun protection is remembering to protect myself. After getting my son Fionn (20 months) into his sun suit, getting his hat on, putting on sunscreen, putting his hat back on, and then putting his hat back on again I never remember to actually put sunscreen on myself.

I am currently sitting at two burned noses, and one burned neck this summer, but I am hoping my learning curve is on the rise.

I have managed to figure out that if Dad wears a hat then Fionn will wear a hat, the main problem being: wearing hats drives me crazy, but, in the name of UV protection I am pulling through.

Lots of learning and lots of fun, two years ago I didn’t even know what sun suits were.

A blue-eyed, fair skinned tennis player since age 7, teaching pro, sailor, diver, and son of a dermatologist, I am very aware of the critical importance of sun protection. Congrats on great piece. Always looking for new and innovative sun protection products.

As a child, I suffered through the slathering on my body of oily, greasy, smelly zinc oxide before leaving the house.

Upon my arrival in south Florida from Boston five years ago, I discovered the products of a company, Colorescience. Colorescience was one of the founding companies in the mineral cosmetic market.

I faithfully use a COLORESCIENCE skin care foundation product, WILD TO MILD. It has little, if any scent, is a paste and not oily, thus applies easily to face and other parts of the body, is virtually waterproof, and provides complete protection from the sun. When applied, you do not feel it on your body and can be worn all day long from early morning to late evening. ( There is another skin product, LINE TAMER, that has SPF values, but I do not use it. )

Colorescience’s sun products line is known as Sunforgettable SPF 30. These are powders applied with a brush.

I personally prefer WILD TO MILD because I feel that it provides longer protection the way I use it, lots of exposure, in or near the ocean, and strenuous exercise on the tennis court.
But the company claims that Sunforgettable provides higher SPF than WILD TO MILD.

Good luck and protect yourself and your family against the sun’s deadly rays with Colorescience. ( I do not work for Colorescience, just love the products. )
